I have been drawn to Temple Grandin's story ever since the period of my life when I worked closely with animals. I used to feel like I learned much easier from animals than people. People made me nervous. When I studied Tellington Touch, I remember a teacher encouraging those of us who were "hiding" from people (in animal work) to learn to work with people as well. Something clicked in me that day. For years I have been applying what I have (and continue to) learn from animals in my everyday life. I now work with people. Watching Temple Grandin's story today inspired me in a whole new way. I recommend this film to everyone!
SANDY |
Sandy, at the age of 2, was pregnant and very ill and not expected to live beyond the birth of her pups (if we were lucky). She would not eat. After trying several brands of food a vet told me to cook rice & beef for her. She ate small amounts (when hand fed). I began studying the relationship between food and animal wellness. I began making Sandy's food and adding supplements. She is now 141/2! Since then I have been applying what I learned about, food, herbs, flower remedies & lifestyle to myself & others. I am now a Certified Holistic Health Coach (for people).
BEN |
Ben loved his crate, ran in circles, was sensitive to light, fast movements and the sound of clanging metal and tape being torn from a roll. I wondered if there was such a thing as canine autism? Vets said no. And that he was not expected to live beyond 1 year old. He thrived when I adapted to his way of being. He lived to be 6 years old. In the end he could go on hikes in the mountains...off leash!
