Falling in Self Love: Days 92-95
5K: Step-by-Step

Shiver me timbers...where are the couches?  LOL!

Today I accomplished something I hadn't done in over 10 years...I completed a 5K! I ran more than 2 of the 3.2 miles and lovingly gave myself permission to walk on and off for what added up to about one mile.  I am thinking running just might be a great activity for me?  I ran today to undo the upset that my body used to feel (and was still holding on to) from my days in the army. i HATED running!!!  I damaged my body with my disdain and lack of inattention to my body's cries for support.  Today I ran, walked, listened to and LOVED my body as I grooved a new path to physical-emotional wellness. AND I raised $$$ for the Ching Farm Sanctuary in Utah! Another reason I ran this 5K was because for YEARS I've known I am a good sprinter, but I'd been telling myself I'm ONLY good at short distances....and that translated in my life from finances to relationship to career....  As I begin to build a new foundation for myself in love and life I wanted to have a athletic experience of taking things step by step.  So I am starting with 5Ks...who know's where this will lead?  Here are 10 life lessons that got ingrained in my body today:

1. I tend to start out with a bang, but when I overdo the bang I peter out pretty quickly and I spend a great deal of time"recovering" (or coming back to balance). Starting out more easefully works REALLY well for me.

2. Along the way there will be stretches of road where I may feel like I am "going it alone" but there is always support around me.

3. While the smiles and "go get em" cheers are GREAT!  They cannot replace my inner cheerleader that is ultimately the one who decides if I will carry on.

4. It doesn't matter how fast or slow I am, it matters more that I am IN the race.

5. Sometimes when I THINK I can't go any further, I do have it in me to keep going and sometimes success, relief (or a turn around) is just beyond the next bend.

6. The universe is ALWAYS ready to support me in taking the next step.

7. Slow and STEADY has just as good a chance at coming out ahead.

8. My body loves to be fueled/ fed well.  Today my favorites were H2O, fresh fruit & mashed potatoes!

9. I can complete what I start & there's always a bit more in me for a BIG finish!

10. My body is an incredible mechanical masterpiece!
