Two days ago I found myself in a bind and chose to take a leap of faith. After a succesful day of introducing Inspired Ice Cream to the students at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition I learned that I could not buy dry ice in NY. Ouch! I stood to lose about 70 minitubs of ice cream once the dry ice they were packed in from Utah melted. [Flashback: 18 months ago I was at a fair and had the thought (more like a voice, 'cause it sure wasn't my thought) saying, "GIVE IT AWAY" I was like WHAT? Madness! NO WAY! By the end of that day a woman came up to me and said she had the weirdest thought....yep....you know where I'm going with this..."GIVE IT AWAY" is what she told me. I went home that day surprised and frustrated...how could she have known I was thinking that? What does GIVE IT AWAY mean anyway? "I'm not gonna MAKE ice cream then just GIVE IT AWAY! I CAN"T do THAT!"]
PRESENT TIME: I was in a dilemma. While talking with my mom she reminded me of that day at the fair....and she suggested I GIVE AWAY the ice cream. My body felt relaxed and I admitted to her that as I'd left the last store telling me NO to buying dry ice, that same thought crossed my mind. I stepped into this "crazy" idea and said YES! I went to bed feeling relieved. The next morning I bawled as I told the same story to my friend. I was afraid of losing hundreds of dollars of product. And I was still choosing in to the GIVEAWAY. So I got dressed and headed out to the city. The most amazing things happened. The bus driver went off his route to drop me a block away from my destination. I was offered VIP seating (3rd row center in a facility that has three levels, seating over 1200 people). A friend I re-connected with the day before made flyers for me announcing the 4 flavors I was offering (she remembered the names & everything)! Later in the day (after I'd given away 1/2 the ice creams) the same friend saw what I was doing and stepped in. When the next person in the gaggle of people around me asked, "How much?" Dani proudly announced the price. It was paid. As I looked up a number of people in front of me had their money out, ready to pay as well. :) I gave away and sold all that I had and had to turn people away. I had support and many graces along the way. All because, I believe, I was willing to let go and GIVE AWAY something that had a grip on me. I am laughing at myself for doing something I NEVER thought I could/ would do. Surprise!
